Wyndings to the Sea
Fiona Hunter Wynde was raised in the North-East and returned in 2020, having spent a career in nature conservation and health exploring how humans connect to nature and to memories. Her work values the fact that glass once discarded into the sea from factories and domestic settings becomes jewel-like treasure after decades tumbled by the waves. Her silver jewellery uses this sea glass, along with pottery and shell, collected from beaches from Northumberland to County Durham, to evoke memories, stories, and connections to special places and heritage. She works from her home in Alnwick and appreciates the coast every day.
