Our History

Allendale Creative Artists began as a co-operative of professional artists and small businesses. By 2006 they inhabited a lively rural hub in Allendale Market Square, which then quickly grew into an award-winning social enterprise and community interest company The Allendale Forge Studios.

In 2010, our volunteer directors had the Allendale Forge Studios building constructed with grants secured alongside a loan.

Now, the Forge is a hub for artists, the local community and visitors to enjoy.

Our facilities include:

  • Professional working studios

  • Office space

  • Gallery

  • Gift shop

  • Workshops

  • Conferencing facilities

  • Business support

  • Volunteering opportunities

  • Hot desking

A not-for-profit organization, we continue to work with volunteers, maintaining a valuable resource and community hub, unique within the beautiful setting of the North Pennines.
