Karen Tait is a mixed-media landscape artist living in rural Northumberland. She is originally from Scotland, where she studied Public Art before relocating to Newcastle following graduation.

 

Focusing her interest in painting and mark-making Karen produced work in her Newcastle studio.  Primarily working in oils on canvas, her paintings and prints were exhibited and sold both locally and at National Art Fairs.

 

A move to rural Northumberland led to a desire to portray the natural world around her.  Karen now takes her inspiration from the landscapes of Northumberland and Scotland.  From the rolling hills of The Cheviots and The North Pennines to painting colourful woodland scenes and stormy seascapes, she seeks to portray the mood and atmosphere she experiences.  Working mainly in watercolour, charcoal and graphite she uses whichever medium she feels captures the atmosphere the best either creating expressive tonal drawings or painting with washes of watercolour.
