Steph Jamieson is a ceramic artist living and working at Broadwood Hall just outside Allendale. Here she has the freedom to experiment with smoke and fire to create her ceramic sculptures of stylised fossils and prehistoric tools. Contrasting surfaces and textures are a feature of her work and low firing techniques offer spontaneous decoration that particularly suit her simple forms.
Other works include raku fired jewellery and garden sculptures fired in the Broadwood Hall wood and soda kilns.
Steph exhibits widely at events and galleries in Scotland and Northern Endland. During three weekends in late summer Broadwood Hall is host to 'Pots in the Byre'. This event brings potters from Scotland and England not only to exhibit their work but to take part in demonstrations and workshops.
