Carol Davison
Carol Davison has met many Himalayan people while traveling, and their warmth, traditions, weddings, vibrant garments, rich fabrics and jewellery inspire her work. Having taken hundreds of pictures of people going about their daily domestic and working lives, Carol selects the most magical to inform her paintings. Recently she visited China, Tibet, Shanghai and the Yangtze River and found further inspiration. Many of Carol’s oils feature the extremes of the age spectrum – children and the aged – and the extremes of experience, etched in the faces of people from Northumberland, India and China. She is inspired by Dame Laura Knight and John Singer Sargent. Visitors are welcome to Carol’s Studio 6, upstairs at the Forge.
