Anne James Ceramics
I am a ceramic artist creating both functional and decorative work that is greatly influenced by my childhood home in rural Scotland.
Working mostly in porcelain, the challenge of construction is what I enjoy. Texture is important to me. I use treasures found on my travels and wallpapers from my family home to create layers of varying texture. I love to collect sea glass, which I incorporate into my vases and bowls.
My jewellery and a range of hanging decorations are embossed with printing blocks and wallpapers.
I like to explore the effects of layering glazes, incorporating traditional celadons with rakus at high temperatures. My love of gardening is reflected in the bright colours of my one-off vases.
