Alan has combined a life-long interest in photography with a fascination for science and the natural world. He began his career as a physics teacher and became a professional photographer.
By getting close to his subjects he hopes to reveal their essential character in a way that the Japanese poem format “haiku” seeks to reveal the essence of its subject. So, he aspires to make his pictures ‘visual haiku’.
Alan has exhibited in Australia and India, as well as the U.K. He prints his own work, using a large format printer, on watercolour paper and canvas.
