During February 2012, the Gallery here at Allendale Forge Studios, will host an exciting exhibition celebrating the creativity and diversity of fibres, fabric and threads. Featuring seven local artists the exhibition will showcase a wide variety of textile art and techniques. Visitors will be able to enjoy a programme of workshops, demonstrations and lectures offered by the participating artists as well as the opportunity to purchase the work on display.
Wear Alpaca will be showcasing their pure British Alpaca accessories which are handmade in Northumberland and promise a visit from their own Alpacas.
Pat Ashton-Smith – Stitched Textiles will be exhibiting embroidery and art textiles inspired by and made in Northumberland and also offering workshops and demonstrations.
Jean Haste presents delicate silk paintings, scarves and accessories.
Thelma Russell’s felt hangings, pictures and scarves will celebrate the creativity and diversity of felting techniques. She has also planned a brooch workshop for visitors.
Caroline Mann will be showing a range of her creative textiles including: hooky & proggy wall hangings, textile collage and felted work together with colourful handmade felted and painted cotton jewellery. She will also be demonstrating at her rug frame.
Firefly Forest works with living fibres and will be exhibiting and making willow structures as well as offering workshops in willow weaving and forest craft.
Penelope Stripes Co. designs and creates clothes for adults and children using up-cycled fabrics and will be displaying new designs to tempt you both in the Gallery and her local studio.
Situated in the beautiful Allen Valley, in addition to the exhibition, Allendale Forge Studios also offers a tempting Design Shop, inviting cafe and the opportunity to visit artist’s studios.
